Improving support and communication in sheltered housing

You said: In the Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSM) 2024/25 survey, satisfaction with contact from the Sheltered Housing Officer in the CO12 area was lower than average (58%).

We listened: In December 2025, our Senior Sheltered Housing Officer met with Colchester Borough Homes to share best practice and identify ways to improve communication with residents.

The results also highlighted two sheltered housing schemes in Dovercourt, where we introduced the following improvements from February 2026:

  • One-to-one support for residents through personalised support plans
  • Giving residents a choice about how often and how they would like to be contacted
