If you’re worried about money or have debts, there are people who can help you.

Start with a Budget

A budget helps you see what money you have and what you spend. You can use free tools online like:

  • National Debt line Budget Tool
  • Money Helper Budget Tool

Free Help with Debt

You can talk to someone for free and in private. These groups can help:

They can help you make a plan to deal with your debts. This might include special ways to manage debt like:

  • Debt Management Plans
  • Bankruptcy
  • Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs)

They’ll help you find the best option for you.

Check for Extra Money

You might be able to get benefits to help with your income.

What is “Breathing Space”?

If you’re finding it hard to pay your debts, you might be able to get 60 days of help. During this time:

  • No extra fees or interest are added
  • People you owe money to can’t chase you

This is called Breathing Space. It gives you time to get advice and sort things out.

You still need to make payments during this time. It won’t hurt your credit score directly, but missed payments will still show.
