Your council home does not come with furniture, but help is available if you need it.

Tendring Furniture Scheme

The Tendring Furniture Scheme is an independent Recycling Charity that offers a free survey and collection service of furniture items suitable for donation. 

The Scheme provides a discount system for customers on benefits. Proof will be required for discount to be applied.

They also offer a free delivery service within the Tendring area for orders over £25.

The Tendring Furniture Scheme does not offer disposal of goods.

Housing decoration voucher

At the start of your tenancy, you may get a one-time decoration voucher. You can use this in selected local DIY shops to buy:

• Wallpaper
• Paint
• Other decorating materials

🕒 You must use the voucher within 3 months of getting it.
After that, you will need to pay for any decorating yourself.

If you moved through a mutual exchange

If you moved into your home by swapping with another tenant (mutual exchange):

• We will only do a gas and electric check
• You will not get a decoration voucher

👉 Please make sure you are happy with the condition of the home before you agree to the exchange.
