Katie Wilkins is the Assistant Director of People at Tendring District Council, where she leads both the People Function and Customer Services. She has over 18 years of experience in Local Government and has played a key role in shaping the Council’s approach to workforce strategy, organisational development, and service transformation.
A Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (FCIPD), the highest level of professional recognition awarded by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. This status reflects her significant contribution to the field of people management and development, her strategic leadership within the public sector, and her commitment to advancing inclusive and ethical people practices.
Previously Katie served on the advisory board of a local secondary school, where she supported governance and strategic planning. She is passionate about creating opportunities for young people, particularly those who may face additional barriers to employment, and is committed to removing obstacles and widening access to meaningful career pathways. She is a strong advocate for nurturing the future of public servants and building a more inclusive workforce.
Katie is also a mum of two young people, both of whom share her enthusiasm for community service and are actively pursuing careers in public service. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and walking her two dogs — Ralphie and Rolo, the latter being a particularly naughty sausage dog who keeps everyone on their toes.
