Clacton Civic Quarter

Tendring District Council was notified in January 2023 that it had successfully secured £19.96million of Levelling Up Funding.

The funding bid was granted to create a new Clacton Civic Quarter comprising two projects on adjacent sites– Carnarvon Terrace and the Clacton Hub.

TDC is leading the Carnarvon Terrace project while Essex County Council is in charge of the Clacton Hub project.

Community Regeneration Partnership

The Community Regeneration Partnership (formerly the Levelling Up Partnership) was awarded £20million in funding from what is now the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.

Projects were identified by civil servants as part of a deep-dive in January 2024, based on strategic planning such as the Love Clacton vision and Jaywick Place Plan.

The aim is to provide place-based regeneration in Clacton and Jaywick Sands.

A number of these projects are being led by Essex County Council.

Dovercourt Town Centre Improvement Corridor

Tendring District Council was notified in March 2023 that it had secured £6.66million in funding as one of the Government’s Capital Regeneration Projects.

The funding will deliver a modern car park in Milton Road, new social homes in Victoria Street, a refurbished Harwich Library with an Adult Community Learning centre, and major public realm improvements.

The Dovercourt High Street Accelerator is a separate scheme initiative supporting local businesses to create a more vibrant, attractive town centre.

Pride and Place (Clacton)

The government has unveiled a number of towns across the country, including Clacton, that will benefit from a multi-billion pound investment, as part of a Plan for Neighbourhoods that provide long-term investment in towns that have been overlooked and taken for granted.

Clacton will be given £20 million endowment-style funds each over 10 years to invest in local people’s priorities.

An independently chaired Town Board has been set up to develop a ten-year vision, and a shorter-term investment plan.
