Seafront Micro Venue

TDC is transforming three council-owned buildings close to the Martello Lounge on Kings Promenade, Clacton, into spaces designed to bring creativity and culture to the heart of the seafront.

In April 2026, planning permission was granted to improve the appearance of the buildings and make them suitable for a future tenant.

The disused public conveniences, curved shelter and storage sit directly above the council’s Beach Patrol headquarters which will also be refurbished as part of the project.

Residents, businesses, and creative and cultural groups have the chance to shape how the buildings are eventually used by taking part in an ongoing consultation.

Dozens of people have already shared their opinions on the scheme, which aims to reactivate a prominent part of Clacton’s beautiful seafront.

The aim is to provide place-based regeneration in Clacton and Jaywick Sands.

A number of these projects are being led by Essex County Council.
