This project aims to improve sustainable travel in Jaywick and Clacton by upgrading more than 30 bus stops.
Work will include five new shelters, raised kerbs, safety features, and updated signage to create safer, more accessible stops and enhance the look and feel of the area.
Essex County Council is leading the work, with priorities based on footfall and bus usage, and delivery planned in three phases.
These improvements are part of a wider programme to support better public transport and connectivity in Clacton.
The Community Regeneration Partnership (formerly the Levelling Up Partnership) was awarded £20million in funding from what is now the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
Projects were identified by civil servants as part of a deep-dive in January 2024, based on strategic planning such as the Love Clacton vision and Jaywick Place Plan.
The aim is to provide place-based regeneration in Clacton and Jaywick Sands.
A number of these projects are being led by Essex County Council.
