Harwich Library has been transformed with a £1.16 million refurbishment.
The scheme has created new space for Adult Community Learning (ACL) and community events, as well as 182 square metres of additional floorspace. It includes two new rooms and a mezzanine floor with a modern design.
The improvements mean the library can continue to support residents and help businesses thrive.
The library reopened in October 2025 with a celebration event, followed by a series of author visits to showcase the new look and feel of the space.
Tendring District Council was notified in March 2023 that it had secured £6.66million in funding as one of the Government’s Capital Regeneration Projects.
The funding will deliver a modern car park in Milton Road, new social homes in Victoria Street, a refurbished Harwich Library with an Adult Community Learning centre, and major public realm improvements.
The Dovercourt High Street Accelerator is a separate scheme initiative supporting local businesses to create a more vibrant, attractive town centre.
