TDC is helping to fund a £25m project to improve, extend, and modernise Clacton Hospital.
Once complete, the new Urgent Treatment Centre will offer patients a modern and more spacious environment where they can get urgent treatment for minor illnesses and injuries such as fractures, burns, and trauma wounds.
The project is being led by East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). MTX Contracts Ltd is the main contractor, while Austin Heating Services is also working on the improvements. It has been funded by ESNEFT, NHS England, NHS Property Services, and NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), as well as TDC.
The Community Regeneration Partnership (formerly the Levelling Up Partnership) was awarded £20million in funding from what is now the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
Projects were identified by civil servants as part of a deep-dive in January 2024, based on strategic planning such as the Love Clacton vision and Jaywick Place Plan.
The aim is to provide place-based regeneration in Clacton and Jaywick Sands.
A number of these projects are being led by Essex County Council.
