Print and complete the application form stating the full site address and details of the proposal. A scaled location plan, and photographs will be required as necessary, together with the relevant fee (see fees above).

Please note that any advice provided by the Council’s Officers is an informal opinion only and is made without prejudice to any formal determination which may be given in the event of an application being submitted. In particular, it will not constitute a formal response or decision of the Council with regard to any future planning applications, which will be subject to wider consultation and publicity. Although the Case Officer may indicate the likely outcome of a subsequent planning application, no guarantees can or will be given about the decision.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has a Planning Advice Web App for developments around major hazard sites and major hazard pipelines.
Developers/applicants can use this free service to find out if a proposed development site lies within the consultation zone of a major hazard.
If the site falls within a consultation zone, the Web App can also be used to establish what the HSE’s advice on the proposal would be. The HSE will either advise against, or not advise against, the granting of planning permission on safety grounds. This part of the service will incur a fee.
The Web App should also be used to check whether a proposed development lies in a “safety hazard area” or within the zone of a “notifiable pipeline” under the provisions of the General Permitted Development Order. This is particularly relevant to new dwellings under Part 3 (Changes of Use) and Part 20 (Construction of New Dwellinghouses).
The link below is to the HSE website where a link to the Web App can be found.
