Thirteen car parks get prestigious awards

Thirteen car parks in Tendring have been given prestigious safety accreditation.

Assessors from the British Parking Association have judged the sites around the district and awarded Safer Parking Awards, which recognise security and maintenance of car parks.

As well as the Park Mark Safer Parking Awards, some also received Disability Parking Awards for being disabled-friendly.

The latest car park awards are in addition to 15 awarded in reviews earlier in the year, meaning 28 of TDC’s car parks hold Park Mark accreditation.

Mick Barry, TDC Cabinet Member with responsibility for parking, said the awards were a fantastic achievement.

“These awards reflect the hard work of our staff in maintaining and patrolling our car parks right across the district, meaning motorists can park there with confidence,” Councillor Barry said.

“To have so many car parks with this accreditation is brilliant in itself; and especially to have our newest car park achieve them shows that our project to rejuvenate the derelict Starlings site has paid off.”

The car parks receiving awards are:

  • Promenade Way, Brightlingsea (DPA too)
  • Hastings Avenue beach, Clacton
  • Hastings Avenue grass, Clacton
  • Marine Parade East seafront bays, Clacton
  • York Road, Holland-on-Sea (DPA too)
  • Brighton Road, Holland-on-Sea (DPA too)
  • Holland Haven Country Park, Holland-on-Sea
  • Station Yard, Walton-on-the-Naze
  • Coronation, Walton
  • The Naze, Walton
  • Mill Lane, Walton
  • Orwell Place, Dovercourt (DPA too)
  • Brook Street, Manningtree (DPA too)

Ian Wilson from the British Parking Association, added: “I am so impressed with the team at Tendring District Council and their commitment to expanding the council’s participation in the Park Mark and Park Access schemes.

“Their proactive efforts to continue to add new sites to these initiatives are a testament to their unwavering commitment to provide safe and accessible parking. Their dedication to excellence sets a high standard for what can be achieved with continuous improvement and a genuine concern for the community’s wellbeing.”
