Grants totalling more than £685,000 are open for applications from Tendring District Council (TDC).
The authority has launched several grant schemes to allocate money from a number of government-funded initiatives.
Across the various funds are opportunities for businesses to invest in new machinery; sports clubs and organisations for projects to increase participation; arts and culture organisations to drive up inclusion; community groups to improve facilities; and to support events.
There are different eligibility criteria for each fund, and different deadlines – though all of the money must be paid-out by the end of March 2025 – and people are being encouraged to check details on the TDC website at www.tendringdc.gov.uk/departments/tendring4growth.
The grants were launched at an event held yesterday morning (Monday, 15 April) at Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre.
Ivan Henderson, TDC Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, said the money could make a real difference to lots of organisations across the district.
“This is a significant scale of investment that we hope can really help people in Tendring,” Councillor Henderson said.
“It could be a rural business looking to buy new machinery, a sports club setting up a youth team, or a community group wanting to improve their meeting place – these are just examples of the type of funding available which will make a more sustainable future for organisations and businesses.

The funding comes from TDC’s allocations from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund. Some include a match-funding requirement, while others may have location restrictions set by government.
