Residents from across Tendring flocked to the Princes Theatre in Clacton yesterday for the annual Tendring Jobs and Skills Fair, an event designed to showcase a wide array of career and training opportunities.
Organised by Tendring District Council (TDC) in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (Jobcentre Plus), the fair was a highlight of the Tendring4Growth Business Fortnight. This year’s event saw nearly 1,000 attendees engaging with 53 exhibitors, each offering unique insights into various industries and the skills required to succeed in them.
The fair featured interactive activities that allowed participants to ‘try before they apply’, giving them hands-on experience in CPR, and virtually scaling the heights of an offshore wind farm.
Councillor Ivan Henderson, TDC Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, praised the event’s impact on the community.
“It was fantastic to see so many residents interested in exploring new career paths and developing their skills,” Councillor Henderson said.
“The interactive nature of the fair brought these opportunities to life, helping people to discover their potential. We hope that everyone who attended feels motivated to pursue these life-changing opportunities.”
The Tendring Jobs and Skills Fair is part of TDC’s ongoing commitment to support local employment and skills development. By connecting residents with employers and training providers, the event aims to foster a more skilled and aspirational workforce within the district – a high-level priority featured in the Council’s Corporate Plan (Our Vision).
The Tendring4Growth Business Fortnight continues next week with a series of free events for business owners, aimed at women in business, those in the arts and culture sector, and high street businesses.
