A commemoration event is being staged in Tendring in July to bring Second World War veterans together.
It is the fourth year in succession Tendring District Council (TDC) has joined forces with the Royal British Legion (RBL) to organise an afternoon tea dance in Clacton’s Princes Theatre.
All veterans are welcome to go along and meet up with old colleagues and share an enjoyable social gathering.
The free event will take place on Friday 6 July between 12 noon and 3pm, and will include a buffet and dance.
It will be a mix of music and memories - with the chance for veterans to display memorabilia and share stories and anecdotes.
Jamie Robinson, Parade Marshal and branch chairman for Clacton RBL, said that the annual events are always popular.
“It is an opportunity to get together and swap stories and memories and these are very well received with the veterans,” he said.
“We have contacted everyone who was there last year and we would also like to hear from anyone else who might want to attend this time.”
TDC Chairman Mark Platt will be attending the event and is looking forward to meeting the veterans.
Any Second World War veterans who have not been contacted so far and want to attend should get in touch with Emma Haward at TDC by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01255 686907.
