To round off your walk why not stop for fish and chips and a  cup of tea on the promenade.

Join badge Guide Josie to discover the stories and places of this most exclusive seaside town. You could round off your walk in true genteel Frinton style with lunch at one of the tearooms on Connaught Avenue. The walk lasts 1.5 hours and is on paved surfaces. Please dress to suit the weather

Walton Maritime Museum

The museum records Walton's close association with the sea and its impact on the town's social history. The exhibition displays Walton's internationally important geology with impressive fossil and flint collections, the establishment of the early lifeboat community plus Walton's role as an agricultural community using tidal and wind energy to power the mills. The town's C18 and C19 resort development is highlighted and 2018 concludes the "Walton at War" exhibition featuring the local war effort during WW1 and WW2. This year our special exhibition celebrates Walton's Mr. Magic - Len Blease.

The Harwich Festival

The Harwich Festival takes place over 12 days. It opens with Art Exhibitions including the Essex summer of art which features works from the art trailers and open studios from across Essex. In addition we have our ever popular 20x20 exhibition, and a range of classical, with performers such as Daniel Johnson, Emma Abate, Tippett Quartet and saxology. Jazz and world, Dinosaur, Andrew MacCormack and addictive TV. Folk is represented by Edgelarks and Harbottle and Jonas. Early music improviso and Lizzie Gutteridge. WE have a poetry cruise, a tea talk with Andy Schooler and author Marion Molteno will talk about her work as a writer. A performance by Dramatic Pause of The Accrington Pals will commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1. We will also have fun with Glasshouse dance adn their Time Machine Disco. Harwich Shorts is a compilation of submitted films which will be held in a Bioscope on Harwich Green.

We will have a very large number of hidden gardens and courtyards open with some new to the scheme and some old ones resting. Last year 29 gardens were open to the public.  All the gardens are easily reachable on foot, access is detailed in the brochure.

Come along and support Cancer Research UK and enjoy live music, entertainment, stalls, reptile encounter, face painting, beer tent, BBQ and much more.

Fundraisers will be taking turns to walk for 24 hours.  At 9pm, the moving Candle of Hope ceremony takes place and you can dedicate a candle bag to a loved one for a donation.  Finish at 11 pm.  The event re-opens on Sunday at 8am until midday.

Clacton Relay have raised over £620,000 since 2010, please come along and show your support.
