Sheltered Housing is a group of properties made up of flats, bungalows or studio flats around a communal area that may include a lounge, kitchen laundry, games/craft room and a guest room dependent on the type of scheme. The accommodation is solely for renting purposes. Sheltered Housing is designed to meet older people's needs by providing accommodation that may include disabled access, aids and adaptations for ease of living, security, community social activities with 24 hour emergency response. Sheltered Support Officers

We employ Sheltered Support Officers who are responsible for the management of these schemes and they are there to support your well being and safety.  Please see our sheltered housing guide for further information.

When the designated Sheltered Support Officer is off duty, your alarm will be switched over to the Tendring Careline Control Centre. This Control Centre is fully staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This means that, if there is an emergency, you will be able to talk directly to the operator at the Control Centre who will make sure the appropriate help is called.

Out Sheltered Support Officers also carry out home assessments for sheltered applicants and other visits to those in both sheltered and other accommodation to provide support in maintaining independent living.
