Sport clubs, coaches and health and wellness champions are being invited to join a groundbreaking Sports and Activity Conference in Tendring later this month.
Tendring District Council (TDC) will be hosting the first Tendring Sports and Activity Conference 2025 at the Princes Theatre in Clacton on Monday, 19 May, from 12 noon to 5pm.
The vibrant event will be filled with engaging discussions, hands-on workshops, and invaluable networking opportunities, all aimed at making Tendring a more active and healthier place to live.
Throughout the day, you'll have the chance to participate in interactive sessions that cover a range of topics, from promoting sport and physical activity in the district to developing and enhancing your club or organisation.
People will also be able to find out about funding opportunities and how to build effective partnerships that can provide a real boost for local clubs.
Mick Barry, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Realm at TDC, said: “This conference promises to be an unmissable opportunity for anyone passionate about promoting physical activity and community wellbeing.
“By supporting local clubs, organisations, and partners, we can help more people become active and improve their health and wellbeing, something that is a key part of our recently adopted Sport and Activity Strategy.
“It is fantastic opportunity for us to come together and make a real difference in our community - whether you're a local sports club, health advocate, education professional, coach, or member of a town or parish council, this event is designed for you.”
The event will include speeches from Active Essex’s Jason Fergus, who will talk about the power of working together to boost activity levels, and Laura Taylor Green, director of the North East Essex Health Alliance, who will delve into the transformative impact of physical activity on the community.
Networking is a key component of the conference, offering participants the chance to connect with national governing bodies for sport, explore grant funding opportunities, and engage with like-minded professionals, community leaders, and organisations in the district.
A marketplace will showcase the latest in sports equipment, technology, and community initiatives, providing a platform to discover new resources and ideas.
Councillor Barry will also unveil several exciting measures the council is implementing to boost sport and physical activity in the district.
