Young stars of this year’s Tendring Junior Ambassadors Project gave a dazzling performance at the Princes Theatre last month to show off what they had learned.

The Tendring Junior Ambassador Project, run by Tendring District Council (TDC), involved 356 Years Five and Six pupils from nine Tendring primary schools who took part in various cultural activity workshops this term.

The project encourages young people to learn about the fascinating communities around them and the values of inclusiveness and diversity.

The celebration event, funded by TDC, saw the ambassadors demonstrate African singing and storytelling, Bollywood dancing, Chinese calligraphy and culture, and Ukrainian themed poetry, song and crafts –whilst also covering John Lennon’s hit song ‘Imagine’ that shares a message of peace and unity.

Gina Placey, TDC Cabinet Member for Partnerships, was privileged to witness the spectacular event.

“The Tendring Junior Ambassador Project is a wonderful opportunity for children in Tendring to learn about the many cultures that surround them, whilst supporting TDC’s corporate plan to promote inclusive communities and improve quality of life for residents,” Councillor Placey said.

“The performance was phenomenal. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and talent on display.

“Well done to everyone involved.”

In total, 320 pupils from eight schools took part in the celebration event.
