Tendring District Council (TDC) has been named Organisation of the Year at the Essex Police Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) Awards.

The award is a major recognition of the council’s commitment to keeping communities safe and its close working relationship with Essex Police.

With more than 40 organisations and over 300 accredited colleagues involved in the scheme, Tendring stood out for its dedication, teamwork and the professionalism of its accredited staff.

Representing TDC at the ceremony at Essex Police Headquarters on 2 October were Nicola Baines and Adam McGoldrick, from the Community Safety team, who accepted the award from Chief Inspector Jon Evans.

Councillor Peter Kotz, Cabinet Member for Assets and Community Safety, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by our accredited staff.

“It’s a group effort and I want to thank everyone involved for their continued support.

“Through working together, Tendring District Council and the Tendring Community Safety Partnership, alongside Essex Police, have made real progress in reducing crime, tackling antisocial behaviour and protecting vulnerable people.

“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved, but we know there’s more to do.

“We remain committed to working with our partners to improve the quality of life for our residents by creating a safe environment where people and communities can flourish.”

The CSAS Awards, launched in 2023, celebrate the efforts of accredited individuals and organisations who use designated police powers to support community safety across Essex.

The scheme allows trained staff in roles such as neighbourhood wardens, park wardens, security officers and parking attendants to carry out enforcement duties like issuing fixed penalty notices.

It’s designed to strengthen collaboration between local authorities and the police, helping to tackle crime, public nuisance and antisocial behaviour.
