Residents are invited to join veterans, civic leaders, and members of the armed forces community at a special service in Clacton to mark the anniversary of the end of the Falklands War.
The commemorative event, organised by the Clacton branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) in partnership with Tendring District Council (TDC), will take place at Clacton War Memorial on Saturday, 14 June at 11am.
The service honours the courage and sacrifice of all those who served during the ten-week conflict in 1982, which ended with the liberation of the Falkland Islands.
This year’s service will be led by the Rev Henderson George, and will include the Last Post, prayers, the Falklands Epitaph, and the laying of wreaths.
Councillor Bill Davidson, Chairman of TDC, will give a reading during the ceremony, which marks the 43rd anniversary of the conflict.
He said: “The Falklands War remains a powerful reminder of the bravery and dedication of our armed forces.
“This service is an opportunity for our community to come together, reflect, and pay tribute to those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“We hope to see residents of all ages join us in remembrance, alongside veterans and local forces’ organisations.”
Clacton War Memorial is located in the town’s seafront gardens, off Marine Parade West. All are welcome to attend.
