The Pride flag is flying above Clacton Town Hall today as Tendring District Council (TDC) marks Pride Month and stands alongside everyone who calls Tendring home.
The rainbow flag has been raised as a simple gesture of recognition and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
It follows the council’s usual approach of marking significant dates and events in a visible but proportionate way.
Councillor Gary Scott, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage, said the flag-raising was a simple gesture of recognition and support.
“Today, the Pride flag is flying above Clacton Town Hall to mark Pride Month,” he said.
“It is a simple, one-day gesture of recognition and support for residents, staff and visitors who are part of, or connected to, the LGBTQ+ community.
“For us, this is about respect, dignity and making sure people feel recognised.
“We are proud to mark the occasion in a visible way and to stand alongside everyone who calls Tendring home.”
Clacton Pride’s Family Festival will be taking place at West Greensward, Marine Parade West, Clacton from 11am to late on Saturday, 27 June.
