Older residents from across Tendring attended a free community safety event designed to help them stay safe, independent and well both at home and out in the community.

The Older Persons Crucial Crew event, hosted by the Tendring Community Safety Partnership (TCSP) and Tendring District Council (TDC), took place at the Princes Theatre in Clacton on Wednesday, 30 September.

The event brought together a wide range of organisations, giving attendees access to practical advice and information on crime prevention, fire safety, personal wellbeing, road safety, social care support and emergency preparedness.

Visitors had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Community Voluntary Services Tendring, Essex Adult Social Care, East of England Ambulance Service, Safer Roads Partnership, Age Well East, Clacton Lions, Tendring Community Transport, Essex Sight and other partner organisations.

Eligible residents were also able to receive Winter Warmer packs from Community Voluntary Services Tendring, offering additional support as the colder months approach.

Health checks were also available throughout the event in the Essex Hall, giving attendees access to advice and support on their health and wellbeing.

Councillor Peter Kotz, TDC Portfolio Holder for Assets and Community Safety, welcomed the success of the event.

“This year's Older Persons Crucial Crew event was a fantastic opportunity for residents to access trusted advice and support from a range of organisations all under one roof,” said Councillor Kotz.

“It was encouraging to see so many people taking the time to learn more about staying safe, independent and well, while also finding out about the support services available to them in our district.

“Events like this play an important role in helping people feel more confident and informed, and I would like to thank all of the organisations involved for giving their time and expertise to make the day such a success.”

The event forms part of the ongoing work of the Tendring Community Safety Partnership to raise awareness of safety issues, reduce risks and support residents to live healthy and independent lives.

Organisers thanked everyone who attended and the partner agencies whose contributions helped make the event informative, engaging and beneficial for residents.
