An injunction has been granted by the High Court to prevent any form of camping in designated areas during this year’s Clacton Airshow.
Tendring District Council (TDC), which organises the popular event, successfully secured the order at the High Court of Justice in London on Thursday, 24 July.
The injunction is in effect from 00.01am on Thursday, 14 August through to 11.59pm on Saturday, 30 August, and covers specified areas in Clacton.
The order prohibits the use of campervans, mobile homes, caravans, and tents in the restricted zones.
Anyone found breaching the injunction could face serious consequences, including contempt of court proceedings, which may result in a fine, imprisonment, or the seizure of assets.
The injunction, granted jointly to TDC and Essex County Council, follows a similar approach taken in previous years and continues to be a key measure in maintaining the smooth running of the event.
Councillor Ivan Henderson, TDC Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, said: "Clacton Airshow is one of the biggest events on our calendar, drawing in tens of thousands of people over two days.
“To help safeguard this fantastic event, we’ve once again secured an injunction to prevent unauthorised encampments.
“We’ve seen the disruption they can cause in the past, and this legal measure has proven to be a strong deterrent.
“It’s all about making sure everyone can enjoy the show safely and comfortably, with plenty of space to take in the incredible displays along the beautiful Essex Sunshine Coast."
The sites covered by the injunction involve land on the south side of Marine Parade West from Clacton Pier to Collingwood Road, as well as the Martello Bay area.
Seafront roads covered are Hastings Avenue (West Road to Selsey Avenue); Marine Parade West and West Road (between the junction with Marine Parade West/Wash Lane and Hastings Avenue).
The car park land includes the Hastings Avenue, Hastings Bay and Martello Coach and Car Park sites.
Those who are travelling to the event can make use of the Park and Ride service from Konect Buses or the event car park run by the Clacton-on-Sea Rotary Club at West Road, as well as additional rail services provided by Greater Anglia.
Full details of the injunction and a schedule of the areas covered will be added to TDC’s website.
Airshow organisers have already revealed a whole host of aircraft that will be taking to the skies on August 21 and 22, including the RAF Red Arrows and the Battle of Britan Memorial Flight, as well as the return of the popular twilight display on the Thursday evening.
