Older residents from across Tendring attended a free event aimed at helping them stay safe and well in their daily lives.

The Older Persons Crucial Crew, organised by Tendring Community Safety Partnership and Tendring District Council (TDC), took place at the Princes Theatre in Clacton on Wednesday, 1 October.

It brought together a wide range of organisations to share practical advice on crime prevention, fire safety, emergency preparedness and winter wellbeing.

Attendees also received Winter Warmer packs from Community Voluntary Services Tendring, subject to eligibility.

Councillor Peter Kotz, TDC’s Cabinet Member responsible for community safety, said it was fantastic to see so many people engaging with the event and taking away useful information.

“The Crucial Crew event was a brilliant example of how we can support older people in our community with clear, practical advice to help them stay safe and well,” he said.

“It was great to see so many residents engaging with experts and learning more about everyday risks, from tips for staying warm in winter to knowing what to do in an emergency.

“Events like this really do make a difference, and I’m proud to work with our partners to provide useful information that could help save lives and improve quality of life for our residents.

“I’d encourage anyone who couldn’t attend to reach out to the organisations involved or look out for future opportunities to take part.”

Among the organisations taking part were Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Community Voluntary Services Tendring, Essex Adult Social Care, Bill Clinic, East Anglian Ambulance Service, Safer Roads Partnerships, Age Well East, Clacton Lions, Tendring Specialist Stroke Services, Tendring Community Transport and Essex Sight.

The event forms part of ongoing work by the Tendring Community Safety Partnership to support vulnerable residents and promote safety across the district.
