Council tenants across Tendring are expressing higher levels of satisfaction with the services they receive, according to the latest performance report.

The report reveals that over 81 per cent of tenants are happy with the overall service provided by their landlord, Tendring District Council (TDC) - a clear sign that efforts to improve housing services are making a real difference to people’s lives.

This marks a positive increase from last year’s already strong satisfaction rate of 80 per cent – and is well above the national average of 69.4 per cent.

Introduced under the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) are designed to ensure social housing providers deliver safe, high-quality homes and treat residents with respect.

The Council’s latest results show encouraging progress across several key areas, including faster repair times, better complaint handling, and stronger tenant engagement.

Councillor Andy Baker, Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, welcomed the results of the survey.

“This is fantastic news and a real testament to the dedication of our housing teams,” he said.

“We’re proud that more of our tenants feel satisfied with the service we provide.

“It shows that our commitment to listening, learning, and improving is paying off.

“We’re not stopping here — we’re determined to keep raising the bar and delivering the high standards our residents deserve.”

While the Council acknowledges there is still work to do — particularly around tenant perceptions of repair satisfaction — it is already taking proactive steps.

The Tenants Panel will be closely involved in reviewing the data and shaping an action plan to drive further improvements.

The full report, which was welcomed by the Council’s Cabinet at a meeting on Friday, 27 June, will be published on the authority’s website and submitted to the Regulator of Social Housing.
