Visitors to the 33rd Clacton Airshow will this year be able to listen along live to Actual Radio, which has been named as the official radio broadcast partner for the high-flying event.

The broadcaster will be bringing coverage of the spectacular show, staged by Tendring District Council (TDC) on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August, to audiences on the ground and further afield.

Actual Radio will deliver dedicated programming across both days live from the Essex Sunshine Coast, featuring the regular commentary team of Ian Wyatt, Steve Scruton and Sam Williams.

Listeners will be able to enjoy interviews, behind-the-scenes insights and music throughout the event, enhancing the visitor experience and allowing those unable to attend in person to tune in from wherever they are.

For the first time, Radio Airshow will be available across multiple platforms, making it easier than ever for audiences to tune in.

Listeners can simply ask their smart speaker to “Play Radio Airshow”, stream via the free Actual Radio app available on the App Store and Google Play, or listen online through the Actual Radio website by clicking the ‘Radio Airshow’ button.

Councillor Ivan Henderson, Tendring District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, welcomed the partnership.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Actual Radio to bring live coverage of the Clacton Airshow to an even wider audience,” he said.

“The airshow continues to grow year on year, and this collaboration will add another exciting dimension – whether people are listening from the seafront, around the district, or further afield.

“Actual Radio’s coverage will help capture the atmosphere, excitement and heritage of this fantastic event, making it a perfect fit for this year’s theme, A Celebration of Aviation, and we are very pleased to have them on board.”

Presenter Steve Scruton said he was looking forward to being part of the event once again.

“The Clacton Airshow is one of the highlights of the summer calendar, and it’s a real privilege to be hosting Radio Airshow alongside Ian and Sam,” he said.

“We’ll be bringing listeners right into the heart of the action with live commentary, interviews and all the sounds of the seafront.

“Whether you’re watching the displays in person or tuning in from home, we’re excited to help people experience every moment.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity to connect communities and celebrate one of the region’s biggest and most loved events.

“With our easy-to-access platforms, including smart speakers and our free app, we’re making it simple for everyone to tune in and be part of the experience.”

The Clacton Airshow, now in its 33rd year, will once again deliver a thrilling programme of aerial displays, including the RAF Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
