Tendring4Growth Business Award - privacy notice

The purpose for this processing

To run and administer the Council’s Business Growth Award (Tendring4Growth).

This includes receiving and assessing applications and nominations, contacting you about your entry, arranging judging and shortlisting, organising any interviews/site visits, confirming winners, and planning and delivering the awards event.

Where relevant, we may also use information to promote the awards.

Legal basis for this processing

We rely on public task as our lawful basis for processing your personal data (Article6(1)(e) UK GDPR). This means the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest and/or in the exercise of official authority as a local authority, including supporting local economic development and engagement with local businesses through the Council’s Business Growth Award (Tendring4Growth).

We use your information provided (and any relevant verification information) to administer your entry, assess eligibility, support judging/shortlisting, contact you about your entry, arrange any interviews/site visits, and plan and deliver the awards event.

For shortlisted entrants, we also carry out proportionate due diligence checks where necessary to verify eligibility and compliance (for example, checking that the business is up to date with NNDR, Companies House filings, and any relevant licensing requirements).

You will be notified of your nomination and if you are shortlisted. You have the opportunity to withdraw from the award should you wish.

Where we would like to publish information about you or your business (for example, names, job titles, photographs, quotes) for awards publicity and promotion, we will rely on Consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw your consent at any time.

We do not require special category data for the award and ask you not to provide it unless it is necessary. If you provide any special category data (for example, information about health) we will only process it where a valid Article 9 condition applies. This will be based on explicit consent.
