The purpose for this processing

To provide Careline services including responding to emergency alarm calls

Legal basis for this processing

Article 6 Lawfulness of Processing (Section 1, (b)):

Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contact.

Article 9 Processing of Special Categories of Personal Data (Section 2, (c)):

Processing is necessary in order to protect the vital interests of the data subject or of another natural person where the data subject is physically or legally incapable of giving consent.

What data do we collect about you

Personal details as required.  These may include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • E-mail address
  • Telephone number
  • Next of kin or other third party contact details
  • Financial details
  • Relevant security information e.g. key safe access, passwords etc to gain emergency access
  • Physical and mental health details

How long do we collect your personal data

In accordance with the Council’s Corporate Retention Schedule – current plus two years after cancellation of the service.

Who we share your data with

Information may be shared with emergency services, Essex County Council (Social Services) and relevant third parties engaged to act on behalf of the Council.

Please note: As part of the Council's decision to merge the Careline service with Colchester City Council, personal data of service users will be shared with the new provider to ensure a seamless transition.
