Hundreds of people explored jobs, training and career opportunities as Tendring’s biggest employment and skills event of the year returned to Clacton.

Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Tendring Jobs and Skills Fair took place at the Princes Theatre on Thursday, 1 October, bringing together more than 50 employers, training providers and support organisations under one roof.

Visitors were able to speak directly to exhibitors about vacancies, apprenticeships, qualifications, business support and routes into different industries, with hands-on activities helping people get a feel for the opportunities available locally and further afield.

Exhibitors included Road to Logistics, which offers fully funded courses for specialist careers in areas such as HGV and LGV driving, forklift truck operation, warehouse work and wider logistics and distribution roles, alongside employers including Home Bargains, Veolia, Lifehouse Spa and Hotel, Milsoms Hotels and Rose Builders.

The event formed part of Tendring4Growth Business Fortnight, a wider programme of workshops, advice sessions, networking opportunities and events taking place across the district from Monday, 28 September to Thursday, 8 October.

Councillor Ivan Henderson, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, said the fair showed the value of bringing employers, skills providers and residents together in one place.

“It was fantastic to see so many people coming through the doors, asking questions and finding out what their next step could be,” he said.

“Events like this matter because they open up conversations people may not otherwise have — whether that is with an employer, a training provider, or someone who can help them build confidence and take that first step.

“There is real talent and ambition in Tendring, and the fair is about making sure residents can see the opportunities around them and know there are people ready to support them.”

Tendring4Growth is TDC’s flagship economic development programme, supporting local firms, entrepreneurs and residents with practical advice, useful contacts and opportunities to grow.
