Sheltered housing residents in Walton-on-the-Naze are enjoying a newly refurbished communal kitchen, creating a brighter and more welcoming space to meet, socialise and spend time together.
Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Mead House sheltered housing scheme, in Saville Street, helps residents to enjoy independent living while benefiting from communal facilities and social activities.
The upgrade, which has cost £11,600, has been designed to provide a modern, welcoming space where residents can meet, socialise and take part in activities.
The facility has also been fully equipped with kitchen essentials, allowing residents to prepare meals and enjoy shared events together.
The improvement has already proved popular with tenants, including those who attend a regular Wednesday coffee morning at the scheme.
Mrs Dunsdon, a resident at Mead House, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the new kitchen.
“It's something residents have been looking forward to - and it's made a real difference.
“The space is much more welcoming and gives us a lovely place to meet, chat and spend time together."
TDC’s Housing Service invested in the upgrade as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities for residents living in sheltered housing schemes across the district.

Residents are already putting the facility to good use through regular social gatherings, including the popular weekly coffee morning, helping to create an even stronger community atmosphere at Mead House.
