Clacton’s Princes Theatre has once again been recognised on the world stage after receiving a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2026 – marking an impressive 11 consecutive years of global recognition and currently remains the town’s highest rated attraction.

The award places the Tendring District Council-run (TDC) theatre in the top 10 per cent of attractions worldwide, based on consistently high reviews and ratings from visitors over the past 12 months.

The continued recognition highlights the Princes Theatre’s reputation for warm hospitality, high quality entertainment and its vital role within the local community.

Gary Scott, Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage at TDC, said the latest award was a significant achievement.

“To be recognised by our audiences for an eleventh year in a row is something we are incredibly proud of,” he said.

“This award reflects the passion, professionalism and commitment of the entire Princes Theatre team, both front of house and behind the scenes.

“The Travellers’ Choice Award is particularly meaningful because it comes directly from our visitors, and their feedback continues to show just how important the theatre is to Clacton’s cultural life.

“As the Princes Theatre celebrates its 95th anniversary at the heart of the town, it’s especially rewarding to see a venue with such a rich history continuing to delight audiences today - and for years to come.”

Housed within the Grade II listed Clacton Town Hall, the Princes Theatre has been entertaining audiences since 1931 and remains one of the town’s most cherished landmarks.

From high profile stage productions and live entertainment to boxing events, weddings, exhibitions and council meetings, the venue continues to serve as a vibrant and welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.
