Pop-up consultation event being held for residents to share views on new seafront venue

A vibrant new venue is coming to Clacton’s stunning seafront – and you can help shape what it is used for.

Tendring District Council (TDC) is transforming three council-owned buildings near Clacton Pier and the Garden of Remembrance into a space designed to bring creativity and culture to the heart of the seafront.

To make sure the plans reflect what the community wants, TDC is inviting residents, businesses, and local groups to share their ideas at a pop-up consultation event on Tuesday, November 25 at the Martello Lounge, Kings Promenade between 4.30pm and 7.30pm – just a stone’s throw from the development site.

All are welcome to come along to meet the project team, view the proposals, and have your say on the future of this exciting development.

Councillor Gary Scott, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage, said: “We’d love to see as many people as possible at the event.

“This is your chance to influence what happens next and help create a venue that truly reflects local demand – is there something you think the seafront or the town centre is particularly missing?

“We’ve already had some fantastic ideas through our online consultation, but the more input we get, the better.”

While all suggestions are welcome, the Government-funded project aims to deliver a cultural or creative hub for Clacton’s seafront.

A planning application to make the buildings suitable for a range of uses will be submitted in the coming weeks, and a formal tenant procurement process will begin next year.

If you can’t attend in person, you can still share your views or register interest in becoming a tenant here.

This project is part of the Community Regeneration Partnership – a £20million investment programme from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government aimed at revitalising Clacton and Jaywick Sands.
