Ian Davidson, Returning Officer, thanked everyone who played a part in the by-election.

“I’m grateful to the candidates for their participation and to every voter who took the time to have their say in the election,” he said.

“I also want to thank the TDC elections team, whose dedication and behind-the-scenes efforts ensured the process ran smoothly and efficiently."

The by-election also saw the trial of a new audio device to support blind and partially sighted voters.

The device provided spoken instructions to help voters navigate the ballot paper independently and in confidence, and is part of wider efforts by Tendring District Council to make voting more accessible for all residents.
