Residents across Tendring are being invited to show their support for outstanding local businesses as the People’s Choice Award opens at the Tendring4Growth Business Awards 2026.

Organised by Tendring District Council (TDC), the awards will return to the Princes Theatre on Thursday, 8 October 2026, bringing together businesses from across the district for an evening of celebration, entertainment and recognition.

All nominated businesses and individuals who have provided consent have now been automatically entered into the People’s Choice Award, kindly sponsored by Surya Hotels, giving residents and fellow entrepreneurs the chance to have their say.

Residents can select their three favourite businesses or individuals from the shortlist. The entry with the most support will be crowned the People’s Choice winner, with the runner-up also recognised on the night.

The People’s Choice selection opens today (9 July 2026) and closes on 26 July. Each person can take part once per email address.

Councillor Ivan Henderson, TDC’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, said: “Our business community plays a vital role in shaping Tendring’s economy and identity, and the People’s Choice Award is a brilliant way for residents to recognise those who go above and beyond.

“We see first-hand the passion, resilience and innovation of our local businesses, and this award gives the public the opportunity to celebrate the ones that make a real difference in their communities.

“I would encourage everyone to get involved, choose their favourites, and help shine a spotlight on the people and organisations that make Tendring such a vibrant place to live, work and visit.”

Standard due diligence checks will be carried out on shortlisted nominees, which may include confirming that businesses are up to date with Non-Domestic Rates, Companies House filings and any relevant licensing requirements.
