Pop star Gareth Gates is set to bring a cheeky twist to Clacton’s Princes Theatre this February with his nationwide hit show, Boyband in the Buff.

The show arrives on 15 February promising fans an unforgettable night of nostalgia, harmonies and a dash of daring.

Backed by a talented cast, Gareth will perform the biggest boyband hits of the 90s and 2000s – from Backstreet Boys and NSYNC to Blue and Take That – in a production that’s as fun as it is daring.

Gareth first captured the nation’s hearts as runner-up on Pop Idol in 2002 before going on to sell millions of records and star in West End favourites including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Legally Blonde and Les Misérables.

He’s even braved the elements on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, but now he’s back where he belongs – on stage, singing the songs fans love.

Gareth said: “I grew up loving the boyband sound of the 90s and 2000s, so getting to perform those iconic pop anthems live is going to be absolutely amazing.

“This show has a cheeky edge, but it’s all done with taste – it’s proper theatre with a fun twist.

“Fitness is a big part of my life, so this tour combines two passions - singing and staying in shape.

“I’ve been lucky enough to perform in Clacton before – and even played Robin Hood in panto here – so returning to the Princes Theatre feels like coming home.”

Tickets start from £30, with VIP Meet and Greet packages available for the ultimate fan experience, including a signed poster and photo opportunity with Gareth.

Councillor Gary Scott, Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage at Tendring District Council’s, which runs the theatre, added: “It’s fantastic to see big names like Gareth Gates returning to the Princes Theatre.

“This promises to be a fun, high-energy show that will have the audience singing and dancing along.

“This is an 18+ event and standing and dancing are encouraged – so grab your friends, warm up those vocal cords and get ready for a night of pop, passion and plenty of surprises.”

The cheeky adults-only show comes with the warning that it contains tight harmonies and tighter pants - at least for the first few numbers.

Tickets for Boyband in the Buff, which takes place on Sunday, 15 February, at 7.30pm, are available now from the Princes Theatre website at princestheatre.co.uk or by calling the Box Office at 01255 686633.
