Free advice on housing, household bills and wellbeing will be on offer when local services come together for an event in Clacton.

Tendring District Council (TDC) is inviting council tenants and households across the district to its Housing Networking Event at the Princes Theatre on Thursday 12 November 2026, from 10am to 2pm.

Visitors can meet the council’s housing team, ask questions about housing services and find out what help is available for them and their families. Organisations offering support with health, wellbeing, finances, childcare and caring responsibilities will also be on hand.

Free blood pressure checks will also be available from Tendring Primary Care.

Organisations attending the event include The Chase Nursery, Autism Anglia, Inclusion Ventures, The Bill Clinic, Clacton School Uniform Bank, Sensory Services Essex, Next Chapter, Tendring Primary Care, Alzheimer's Society, Peabody, Bridge Support and Essex Carers Support.

Council tenants can also speak to housing officers about rent and tenancy queries, housing allocations and the Housing Register, benefits and financial support, adaptations for disabled residents, tenancy management, and opportunities for tenants to help shape housing services.

Andy Baker, Tendring District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, said: “Being a landlord is about more than providing a home – it is about supporting our tenants and their families, listening to what matters to them and helping them feel part of their community.

“We want tenants to feel heard and know they have somewhere to turn when they need help. Bringing our housing team and local support organisations together makes it easier to have those conversations and find the right advice.

“It is also a chance for us to listen. Our tenants’ experiences should help shape the services we provide, and we would love people to come along, share their views and find out how they can get involved.”

Tenant Panel chair Carol McDougall said: “This is a chance to meet the housing team and have a chat, whether you have a question about your tenancy, the Housing Register or adaptations to your home. You can come along with your family, meet other tenants and find out what support is available in an informal setting.

“We’d also love more tenants to help shape housing services, so please come along and find out more.”

“The Tenant Panel helps make sure tenants’ views and experiences are heard. Getting involved doesn’t have to be daunting – it can start with a friendly conversation and sharing what matters to you.”

The event is free to attend, with no booking needed. Refreshments will also be available.

The event forms part of the council’s wider work to strengthen tenant involvement, bring services closer to residents in a relaxed and accessible setting, and gather feedback on how services can be improved.

It will also help raise awareness of estate walkabouts, drop-ins and other ways residents can engage with housing and community services.

Tenants and leaseholders who want to help shape our housing services are invited to complete a short online application form. To get involved, go to https://tendring-self.achieveservice.com/en/service/Customer_Involvement_Register.
