Clacton’s beloved Princes Theatre is celebrating a remarkable milestone after being named a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award winner for 2025 — marking ten consecutive years of recognition and retaining its crown as the town’s number one attraction.

This prestigious accolade places the theatre among the top 10 per cent of attractions worldwide, based on consistently outstanding reviews from visitors over the past year.

It is a testament to the venue’s enduring appeal, exceptional hospitality, and the unforgettable experiences it offers.

Gary Scott, Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage at Tendring District Council – which runs the theatre – said he was delighted the venue had retained its crown.

“We are truly honoured to receive this recognition for the tenth year running,” he said.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our visitors and reviewers for their kind words, and to our incredible team whose dedication behind the scenes helps to keep the onstage magic alive.

“Travellers’ Choice is one of the most respected awards in the travel industry, and we’re delighted to have retained the top spot.

“The Princes Theatre is a cultural gem at the heart of Clacton and our residents and customers are rightly proud of it.”

Located within the Grade II listed Clacton Town Hall, the Princes Theatre has been a cultural cornerstone since its opening in 1931.
