A ten-year vision for the future of Clacton has been submitted to the Government as part of a £20million regeneration project.
Under the government’s Pride in Place programme, Clacton has been awarded £20 million in funding over the next ten years to help regenerate the town. The Town Board’s vision lays out the areas where this funding will be allocated and is focused on what residents told us were their three key priorities: Safe and lively, Prosperous and Healthy.
These three pillars were highlighted in consultations held over the summer which gathered valuable feedback from more than 600 residents, visitors and businesses in Clacton.
This vision supplements previously announced initiatives and private sector investments in Clacton such as the new Civic Quarter and the emerging Clacton masterplan. An early start was made by shop-front improvements and the display of banners to advertise what Clacton has to offer.
The Board’s ‘Love Clacton’ campaign aims to encourage all that live, work or visit the town to take pride in Clacton.
George Kieffer, Chairman of the Clacton Town Board, said: “The actions of the Pride in Place Plan over the next ten years seeks to make our town a better place to live, work and visit.
“Initial activities will make a tangible and visible difference to the town centre, while also developing a sustainable approach to the three pillars (Safe and Lively; Prosperous; Healthy) give a strategic focus to deliver lasting change across the next decade and beyond.
“The voice of the local community will help us shape the direction and proposed interventions.
“I am particularly keen to make sure that the voices of Clacton’s young people are heard and that they have a real stake in the community where they live.”
A decision from the Government is due in Spring 2026.
