The new Chairman of Tendring District Council (TDC) has revealed which charities she will be supporting over the next year.
Councillor Ann Oxley was elected as Chairman at the annual council meeting in May, and has now announced the groups she will be supporting with charitable events during her term in office.
The charities are the Naze Protection Society, an organisation which works to save Walton’s Naze; Touched by Cancer, a Frinton-based support group; and the Stroke Wellness Foundation, a Clacton-based charity helping Tendring stroke survivors with physical and mental rehabilitation.
Councillor Oxley said: “These groups are all doing vital work to support and improve the lives of our residents, whether through times of ill-health or protecting our natural environment.
“As causes close to my heart I am looking forward to fundraising for them during my term of office as Chairman of Tendring District Council – and I hope people will dig deep to donate vital funds for these community organisations.”
Last year’s Chairman, Councillor Bill Davidson, raised a total of £13,400 for his chosen charities – Candles, Home-Start, and CRY.
