Tendring District Council (TDC) is celebrating a tail-wagging triumph after scooping two prestigious honours in the RSPCA’s PawPrints Awards 2025.

The awards shine a spotlight on councils and public bodies that go the extra mile to protect and promote animal welfare.

This year, TDC has proudly picked up a Gold PawPrint for Animal Activity Licensing – awarded for the first time, recognising the Council’s leadership in raising standards across animal-related businesses through robust regulation and collaboration.

It was also handed a Silver PawPrint for Housing – celebrating its work to promote responsible pet ownership through tenant guidance and welfare partnerships.

Councillor Adrian Smith, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive these awards, which reflect the dedication of our staff, partners and community.

“Animal welfare is at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to be setting high standards in both animal activity licensing and housing.

“We take pride in the services we deliver to our residents and are thrilled to see our teams’ hard work recognised.”

Lee Gingell, Public Affairs Manager at the RSPCA, added: “We’re delighted to recognise Tendring District Council with these awards.

“Their commitment to animal welfare is truly commendable, and we hope their example inspires others to strive for excellence.”
