Tendring’s business community is invited to take part in a dynamic celebration of local enterprise as Business Fortnight returns with a packed programme of free events designed to spark ideas, build connections, and unlock opportunities.

From Monday 22 September to Thursday 2 October, venues across the district will host a series of inspiring sessions as part of Tendring4Growth, Tendring District Council’s (TDC) flagship initiative for economic development.

Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur, a start-up founder, or simply curious about what’s possible, Business Fortnight offers something for everyone – and people are now being urged to book their free spots at the events at www.tendring4growth.com.

The fortnight begins on Monday 22 September at 10am with Working with Tendring District Council at Clacton Town Hall.

Attendees will hear from TDC Chief Executive Ian Davidson and Essex County Council’s Procurement Team, gaining valuable insights into how to become a council-approved supplier, navigate procurement processes and access upcoming contract opportunities.

On Tuesday 23 September at 6pm, the spotlight turns to innovation with The AI Effect: Creativity, Culture and Tourism Reimagined at the Columbine Centre in Walton.

This evening event explores how artificial intelligence is transforming the creative and tourism sectors, featuring expert talks, a panel discussion, audience Q&A and networking.

On Wednesday 24 September at 10am, businesses and community groups can attend Writing Successful Bids and Grant Applications at Weeley Village Hall.

This practical workshop will help attendees improve their chances of securing funding and winning contracts, with tailored advice for local organisations.

The following day, Thursday 25 September from 10.30am, sees the return of the popular Tendring Jobs and Skills Fair at the Princes Theatre in Clacton.

With over 40 exhibitors, it’s the district’s largest employment and training event — ideal for job seekers, career changers and those looking to upskill. Entry is free and no booking is required.

The second week of Business Fortnight focuses on supporting new and young entrepreneurs.

On Tuesday 30 September at 1.30pm, Supporting Start-ups in Tendring takes place at East Coast 5, Old Pier Street, Walton.

Attendees will hear from four local business owners about their start-up journeys and learn how Colbea and TDC can support them through mentoring, training and funding.

Later that evening, at 6pm, From Idea to Impact: Supporting Young Businesspeople will be held at McGrigor Hall in Frinton.

This inspiring session is tailored for young entrepreneurs looking to turn their ideas into successful ventures, with expert advice and networking opportunities.

On Wednesday 1 October at 6pm, Building Tomorrow’s Town Centres will be hosted at Air Rescue UK, Mariners Way, Harwich.

This forward-thinking session invites attendees to explore bold ideas for revitalising high streets and creating vibrant, inclusive communities.

The fortnight concludes on Thursday 2 October with the Tendring4Growth Business Awards, celebrating the district’s most outstanding businesses.

Councillor Ivan Henderson, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism at Tendring District Council, urged local businesses and entrepreneurs to sign up.

“Business Fortnight is more than a calendar of events - it’s a celebration of the energy, creativity and resilience that drives Tendring’s economy,” he said.

“Whether you’re launching a new idea or growing an established business, this is your chance to connect, learn and be inspired.

“We’re proud to support our local entrepreneurs and look forward to seeing the community come together to shape the future of business in Tendring.”
