I have an Attachment of Earnings Order

You have received this because of one of the following reasons:

  • You have broken an arrangement that you set up to pay off your debt under Liability Order
  • You failed to return an Information Request or make an arrangement on your debt under Liability Order in the timeframe given
  • You have an old debt under Liability Order which has been pending an Attachment of Earnings Order

The rules surrounding Attachment of Earnings Orders are:

  • Attachment of Earnings Orders can only be issued on debts under Liability Order
  • The maximum number of Attachment of Earnings Orders allowed for Council Tax is 2
  • The deduction amount is government set and is out of the Council’s control
  • Once an Attachment of Earnings Order has been issued it will not be revoked unless:
  • The order is cleared in full
  • The order has been issued incorrectly and this can be proven
  • The order will leave you in hardship and this can be proven and an offer of alternative payment can be made
