Submitting and tracking an Appeal

All appeals are dealt with directly by the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol. The appeal system is intended to be used as a last resort. If we feel that your appeal is unreasonable or has no reasonable chance of success, we may seek to recoup the expense the Council has incurred defending our refusal or enforcement notice.

If the Council is "awarded costs", it could mean that you have to pay the cost the Council has incurred which may run into thousands of pounds.

This is one of the reasons why we always encourage pre-application-discussions even if they follow a previous refusal.

When you have submitted an appeal, you can check its progress by tracking it on the Planning Portal.
