From the draft core strategy consultation, the majority of objections from local residents related to the number, location and type of new homes being proposed. Many residents called for a further round of public consultation on this issue. Changes were also made to the planning system and councils were encouraged to prepare a single 'Local Plan' as opposed to a 'Local Development Framework'. In 2011, we therefore decided that it would be an appropriate time to carry out public consultation focussing on the main topic of concern - housing development, to inform the preparation of a new single Local Plan.
We received nearly 1,400 individual responses from the public in response to the consultation exercise. To view a report of the findings of the consultation exercise, please the following link - Report on findings of housing consultation.
