How should we involve our communities in the planning process?

Councils are required to have a 'Statement of Community Involvement' (sometimes abbreviated to 'SCI' for short) which explains how residents and other interested parties will be notified, consulted and involved in preparing the Local Plan and other planning documents, and considering major planning applications.

On 2 November 2017, the Local Plan Committee agreed a public consultation on a new version of the Statement of Community Involvement.  The consultation ran for eight weeks from 13 November 2017 to 8 January 2018.

Officers will take into account representations received and will report findings back to the Local Plan Committee.   To view the Statement of Community Involvement consultation document please click here.
