Tendring District Council are developing a new Taxi and Private Hire Policy, while having regards to the Department for Transport Best Practice guide, the statutory taxi and private hire vehicle standards, the Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles (Safeguarding and Road Safety) Act 2022, along with its pre-consultation earlier this year. The Licensing and Registration Committee have listened to the pre-consultation survey results at it’s meeting on 08 March 2023 and a draft policy has been developed.
At its meeting on 24 July 2023, Members approved for the draft taxi / private hire policy to go out for formal consultation along with some questions that they would like your views on.
The draft policy and consultation survey is available for taxi / private hire licence holders, stakeholders, and the general public to submit their comments on the draft policy no later than 20 September 2023.
The results of the consultation will be reported back to the Licensing and Registration Committee for appraisal and appropriate amendments before the policy is formally adopted. The policy will then remain in existence for a period of five years with interim reviews should the Committee determine the need.
