Venetian bridge

Contractors are getting ready to start the next phase of work on a major £355,000 project to restore Clacton’s historic Venetian Bridge.

It will involve using high pressured water jets to remove the failing concrete on the 103-year-old structure.

A propping system is to be put up by the middle of this week and it will then take around two weeks for all the loose material to be removed.

During that period there will be times when the pedestrian walkway underneath the bridge will need to be closed off temporarily for safety reasons.
