Spring Talk - The Home Guard in Essex Revisited

Event details

In the Summer of 1940 Britain faced imminent invasion from victorious German forces following their triumphant conquest of Western Europe. The British Army has lost most of its equipment following the evacuation from Dunkirk but at home, a 'makeshift' army was coming into being to defend the country - the Home Guard. Join Essex historian Neil Wiffen to revisit the events of 1940 as well as looking at some of the lesser known aspects of the Home Guard.  Finish at 12 noon.
