Grass cutting machinery and staff

Tendring District Council has a schedule of when and where grassed areas across the District are cut.

Clacton Round 1 – Highway verges (Holland on sea – Jaywick)

This round consists of highway verges only. Grass clippings will not be collected, but cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

Clacton Round 2 – Formal gardens (Clacton Area)

This round consists of formal garden areas. Cut using rotary mower and hand rotary mowers. Grass clippings are collected from some garden areas, otherwise left but cleared from footpaths/pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

Clacton Round 3 - Council housing areas (Percy King Estate, Clacton)

This round consists of council housing areas including shrub bed maintenance. Cut using ride on rotary mower and hand rotary mowers. Grass clippings will not be collected, but cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

This round consists of smaller highway verge areas. Cut using ride on rotary mower and hand rotary mowers. Grass clippings will not be collected, but cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

Frinton and Walton Round 2 - Highway verges and small open spaces (Frinton, Kirby & Walton Area)

This round consists of highways verges and small open spaces. Cut using ride on flail. Grass clippings will not be collected, but cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

Harwich Round 1 - Formal gardens (Harwich & Dovercourt)

This round consists of formal garden areas. Cut using hand rotary mower and cylinder mower. Grass clippings are collected from some garden areas, otherwise left but cleared from footpaths/pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

Rural Round – Council housing areas & open spaces (Elmstead Market, Gt Bromley, Ardleigh, Lawford, Manningtree, Mistley, Little Bromley, Gt Bentley, Alresford, Brightlingsea, Weeley, Frating)

This round consists of highway verges/housing areas/open spaces. Cut using ride on rotary mower/hand rotary. Grass clippings will not be collected, but cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

All Areas Tractor Round – Large open space, recreation grounds & greenswards (Clacton, Holland on sea, Frinton, Walton, Harwich & Dovercourt)

Tractor Round A - This round consists of large open spaces/country parks. Cut using cylinder/rotary/tractor mounted mowers. Grass clippings will not be collected, but cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent.

This round consists of sheltered housing areas. Grass clippings will be collected from some areas where appropriate, and cleared off footpaths and pavements. Grass cutting will commence in March and cease in November, weather dependent
