Thank you for your understanding. The gardens at Weeley Crematorium and room of remembrance are open for people to visit memorials, please follow social distancing while doing so.
It is a requirement for those attending a service to wear a face covering. Anybody leading a funeral service or carrying out a reading during a funeral service does not need to wear a face covering. The officiant or reader can remove their face covering in order to take the service or carry out the reading so that the mourners can hear clearly, and those that rely on it can lip read. In such circumstances current methods of controlling the spread of the coronavirus will apply. Mourners do not need to wear a face covering if they have a legitimate reason not to. This includes a mourner who becomes distressed and needs to remove their face covering to wipe their eyes, nose or face.
The maximum number of mourners which can be accommodated within the chapel is dependent upon the combination of households and bubbles looking to attend, as a distance of two metres needs to be maintained between groups not in a bubble or household together. Please contact your funeral director or, call or email the crematorium team to discuss attendance arrangements further.
Government guidance states that people can travel to attend a funeral or related event, or visit a burial ground or remembrance garden. Please also consider Government guidance that being permitted to do so and being appropriate to do so, are different considerations.
Weeley Crematorium is operated by Tendring District Council and is part of the Council's Operational Services Department.
